Features & Benefits
- PTFE Coatings provide clean dry lubrication for O-rings, gaskets, & custom molded parts.
- PTFE Coatings make installation easier for O-rings, gaskets, & custom molded parts.
- PTFE Coatings provide corrosion resistance to O-rings, gaskets, & custom molded parts.
- PTFE Coatings provide easy color identification for O-rings, gaskets, & custom molded parts.
- PTFE Coatings are very thin, and have no effect on tolerances for O-rings, gaskets, & custom molded parts.
- PTFE Coatings provide an inexpensive, proven coating solution for O-rings, gaskets, & custom molded parts.
- PTFE Coatings come in almost any color needed.
Limitations
- PTFE Coatings provide poor dynamic wear resistance
- PTFE Coatings can flake off over time
- PTFE Coatings are porous and do not provide additional chemical resistance
PTFE Coating Process
Most of our coating systems are applied to O-rings, gaskets, & custom molded parts using conventional compressed air driven spraying techniques. The coatings are supplied as liquids and are decanted into either gravity fed or pressure fed spraying equipment.
Powder systems such as PFA and FEP are applied electrostatically to O-rings, gaskets, & custom molded parts, where the coating material (powder) and the part receive opposing electrical charges so that the powder will be attracted to the part. This is particularly useful where complex shapes are involved.
Please consult a Canyon Components Engineer about your specific application and we will use our decades of experience to formulate a solution that fits your need.
PTFE Coating Colors
PTFE coatings for O-rings and rubber parts are available in virtually infinite colors, allowing for extensive customization to meet both functional and aesthetic requirements. These coatings not only enhance performance by reducing friction, but they also allow for easy identification, sorting, and application coding across different industries.
With custom PTFE coatings, manufacturers and designers can select specific colors to match brand guidelines, designate unique functions, or distinguish between different sizes and specifications. Some commonly used colors include black, white, blue, green, and red, but the options are practically limitless to accommodate your specific needs. This wide range of colors ensures that PTFE-coated components are as visually distinctive as they are functionally effective.
