Aconitic acid is an organic compound with the chemical formula C6H6O6. It is a colorless crystalline solid that occurs naturally in various plants, particularly in sugarcane and beetroot. Aconitic acid is an intermediate in the Krebs cycle, playing a role in cellular respiration. It is used industrially in the production of plasticizers, as a chelating agent, and in the synthesis of other organic compounds.
