Barium polysulfide is a yellow to orange liquid with the chemical formula BaSx, where x represents the number of sulfur atoms. It is used as a pesticide, fungicide, and soil conditioner in agriculture. Barium polysulfide can release hydrogen sulfide gas, which is highly toxic and flammable, posing significant health and safety risks. Proper handling, storage, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) are essential to ensure safety when working with barium polysulfide.
