MAGNESIUM TRISILICATE Chemical compatibility with O-rings, rubbers, & plastics

Magnesium trisilicate is a white, powdery solid with the chemical formula Mg₂Si₃O₈·xH₂O, used primarily in the pharmaceutical industry. It is employed as an antacid to neutralize stomach acid and relieve symptoms of indigestion, heartburn, and peptic ulcers. Magnesium trisilicate is also used in the production of ceramics and as a filler in rubber and plastics. Despite its benefits, magnesium trisilicate can cause skin and eye irritation if not handled properly. Proper handling, storage, and safety measures, including the use of personal protective equipment, are essential to ensure safe usage and prevent exposure. Adequate ventilation and spill containment measures are also necessary.
