Methyl chloride, also known as chloromethane, is a colorless, flammable gas with the chemical formula CH₃Cl, used in various industrial and chemical applications. It is primarily employed as a refrigerant, a methylating agent in chemical synthesis, and as a solvent in the production of silicones and other chemicals. Methyl chloride is also used in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. Despite its utility, methyl chloride is highly toxic and poses significant health risks if inhaled or ingested.
