PHOSPHORIC ACID CONCENTRATED ROOM TEMP Chemical compatibility with O-rings, rubbers, & plastics

Concentrated phosphoric acid at room temperature is a highly viscous, colorless liquid used in numerous industrial applications. Its primary uses include rust removal, metal treatment, and as a reagent in chemical synthesis. It is also found in food processing as a pH adjuster and flavoring agent. Due to its strong acidic nature, concentrated phosphoric acid can cause severe skin and eye burns upon contact and respiratory irritation if inhaled. Proper handling requires the use of protective gear such as gloves, goggles, and lab coats. It should be stored in corrosion-resistant containers, away from incompatible substances like strong bases and reactive metals. Good ventilation is essential to prevent the accumulation of fumes. In case of spills, neutralization with a suitable alkaline material and prompt cleanup are necessary to prevent environmental and health hazards.
