Wolmar salt, also known as Glauber's salt, is the decahydrate form of sodium sulfate (Na₂SO₄·10H₂O). It is a white crystalline solid that is soluble in water and has various applications. In medicine, Wolmar salt is used as a laxative and in the treatment of constipation. It is also employed in the manufacture of glass, detergents, and dyes. In the textile industry, it serves as a leveling agent in dyeing processes. Additionally, Wolmar salt is used in the chemical industry for the production of sodium sulfide, sodium silicate, and other sodium compounds.
