ADIPIC ACID Chemical compatibility with O-rings, rubbers, & plastics

Adipic acid is a white crystalline solid with the chemical formula C6H10O4. It is an important industrial dicarboxylic acid used primarily in the production of nylon 6,6 by polycondensation with hexamethylene diamine. Adipic acid is also used as a plasticizer, a food additive to regulate acidity, and a precursor in the synthesis of various organic compounds. The compound is relatively non-toxic, but handling it requires standard safety precautions to avoid skin and eye irritation. Adipic acid should be stored in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area to maintain its stability.
