Ethyl ether, also known as diethyl ether, is a colorless, highly volatile liquid with a characteristic odor, represented by the chemical formula C4H10O. It is used as a solvent, in anesthesia, and as an intermediate in the synthesis of various chemicals. Ethyl ether is highly flammable and can cause skin and respiratory irritation upon exposure. Proper handling, storage, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) are essential to ensure safety.
