Zinc diethyldithiocarbamate (ZDEC) is a chemical compound with the formula Zn(S₂CNEt₂)₂. It is a white to light yellow powder used as an accelerator in the vulcanization of rubber, improving the speed and efficiency of the process. ZDEC is also used as a fungicide and bactericide in agriculture, protecting crops from fungal infections and bacterial growth. In addition, it finds applications in the production of latex products, adhesives, and sealants. Due to its potential health risks, including skin sensitization and respiratory issues, handling ZDEC requires appropriate safety measures, including protective clothing and equipment.
