Benzonitrile is a colorless to pale yellow liquid with a bitter almond-like odor, represented by the chemical formula C7H5N. It is used as a solvent and intermediate in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, dyes, and other organic compounds. Benzonitrile is toxic and can cause skin and respiratory irritation upon exposure. Proper handling, storage, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) are essential to ensure safety.
