Bone oil, also known as bone oil or bone tar, is a dark, viscous liquid obtained by the destructive distillation of animal bones. It is used in the manufacture of fertilizers, lubricants, and certain chemicals. Bone oil can cause skin and respiratory irritation upon exposure. Proper handling, storage, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) are essential to ensure safety.
