CETANE (HEXADECANE) Chemical compatibility with O-rings, rubbers, & plastics

Cetane, also known as hexadecane, is a colorless, flammable liquid hydrocarbon with the chemical formula C16H34. It is used as a reference standard in diesel fuel quality testing, specifically in determining the cetane number, which measures the combustion quality of diesel fuel. Cetane is relatively non-toxic but can cause skin and respiratory irritation upon exposure. Proper handling, storage, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) are essential to ensure safety.
