Ethyl chloride is a colorless, flammable gas with a sweet odor, represented by the chemical formula C2H5Cl. It is used as a local anesthetic, in the production of certain chemicals, and as a refrigerant. Ethyl chloride can cause skin, respiratory, and eye irritation upon exposure. Proper handling, storage, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) are essential to ensure safety when working with this chemical.
