HYDYNE Chemical compatibility with O-rings, rubbers, & plastics
Hydyne is a liquid rocket fuel mixture consisting primarily of unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine (UDMH) and diethylene triamine (DETA). It was developed as a more stable and efficient alternative to other hypergolic propellants. Hydyne is used in bipropellant rocket engines, where it ignites spontaneously upon contact with an oxidizer, such as nitric acid or nitrogen tetroxide. Despite its effectiveness, Hydyne is highly toxic and poses significant health hazards. Exposure can cause severe respiratory, skin, and eye irritation, and prolonged exposure may result in organ damage. Proper handling, storage, and stringent safety protocols are essential to ensure safe usage and prevent accidents.
