PARA-AMINOSALICYLIC ACID Chemical compatibility with O-rings, rubbers, & plastics

Para-aminosalicylic acid (PAS) is an antibiotic used primarily in the treatment of tuberculosis. It has the chemical formula C7H7NO3 and is a white crystalline powder. PAS works by inhibiting the synthesis of folic acid in mycobacteria, effectively slowing their growth. It is often used in combination with other antitubercular drugs to enhance efficacy and prevent the development of drug resistance. PAS is also employed in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease due to its anti-inflammatory properties. Side effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances, and its use should be monitored by healthcare professionals.
