PELAGONIC ACID Chemical compatibility with O-rings, rubbers, & plastics

Pelargonic acid, also known as nonanoic acid, is a naturally occurring fatty acid with the chemical formula C9H18O2. It is a colorless to pale yellow liquid with a rancid odor, used primarily in the production of plasticizers, lubricants, and herbicides. Pelargonic acid is also employed in the synthesis of esters for fragrances and as a component in detergents and cosmetics. It exhibits antimicrobial properties and is used as a preservative in certain formulations. Handling requires caution due to its corrosive nature and potential to cause skin and respiratory irritation.
