Perfluoropropane is a fluorocarbon with the chemical formula C3F8, used primarily as a refrigerant and in the electronics industry as a plasma etching gas. It is a colorless, odorless gas with a high global warming potential, making its use subject to environmental regulations. Perfluoropropane is also employed in the medical field for ophthalmic procedures, such as retinal detachment repair. Handling requires proper safety measures to prevent leaks and ensure safe usage. Due to its high stability and inertness, perfluoropropane is used in applications requiring chemically non-reactive gases.
