White lye is a strong alkaline solution used primarily in the pulp and paper industry for the kraft process. It is a mixture of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and sodium sulfide (Na2S), used to digest wood chips and separate lignin from cellulose fibers. White lye is essential for the production of strong and durable paper products. Proper handling and storage of white lye are essential to maintain its quality and prevent accidents, as it is highly caustic and poses significant health and safety risks.
