White pine tar is a viscous, dark liquid obtained from the destructive distillation of white pine wood. It has been traditionally used for its antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, making it valuable in treating skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis. White pine tar is also used in veterinary medicine for treating wounds and infections in animals. In addition, it has applications in the preservation of wood and ropes due to its protective qualities. Its distinct, smoky aroma makes it a component in some traditional soap formulations.
