AMINOSALICYLIC ACID Chemical compatibility with O-rings, rubbers, & plastics

Aminosalicylic acid, also known as para-aminosalicylic acid (PAS), is an organic compound with the chemical formula C7H7NO3. It is used as an antibiotic for the treatment of tuberculosis. PAS works by inhibiting the synthesis of folic acid in Mycobacterium tuberculosis, helping to control the infection. It is typically administered in combination with other anti-tuberculosis drugs to prevent resistance. Aminosalicylic acid can cause gastrointestinal irritation and hypersensitivity reactions. Proper handling and administration under medical supervision are essential to ensure safety and effectiveness.
