Ammonia is a colorless gas with a pungent odor, represented by the chemical formula NH3. It is widely used in the production of fertilizers, explosives, and cleaning products. Ammonia is also employed in refrigeration systems and as a nitrogen source in various chemical processes. It is highly soluble in water, forming ammonium hydroxide, which is used in household cleaners and industrial applications. Ammonia is toxic and can cause severe respiratory irritation upon inhalation. Proper handling, storage, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) are essential to ensure safety.
