BARIUM SULFATE Chemical compatibility with O-rings, rubbers, & plastics

Barium sulfate is a white crystalline solid with the chemical formula BaSO4. It is used as a radiopaque agent in medical imaging, in the manufacture of pigments and plastics, and as a filler in paper and rubber products. Barium sulfate is relatively non-toxic but can cause skin and respiratory irritation upon exposure. Proper handling and storage are essential to ensure safety.
