Cresylic acid is a mixture of phenolic compounds obtained from coal tar or wood tar. It is used as a disinfectant and in the manufacture of certain chemicals. Cresylic acid can cause skin and respiratory irritation upon exposure. Proper handling, storage, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) are essential to ensure safety.
