ORTHO-CRESOL Chemical compatibility with O-rings, rubbers, & plastics

Ortho-cresol is a phenolic compound with the chemical formula C7H8O, consisting of a benzene ring with hydroxyl and methyl groups in the ortho positions. It is a colorless to yellowish liquid with a characteristic odor, used in the production of disinfectants, resins, and plastics. Ortho-cresol is also an intermediate in the synthesis of other chemicals, including pesticides and pharmaceuticals. It exhibits antiseptic properties and is utilized in various industrial applications. Handling ortho-cresol requires caution due to its corrosive nature and potential health hazards, including skin and respiratory irritation.
