Ortho-dichlorobenzene, with the chemical formula C6H4Cl2, is a chlorinated aromatic compound used as a solvent and an intermediate in chemical synthesis. It appears as a colorless to pale yellow liquid with a strong, pleasant odor. Ortho-dichlorobenzene is employed in the manufacture of dyes, pesticides, and degreasing agents. It is also used as a deodorizer for garbage and sewage treatment. Due to its volatility and potential health effects, including respiratory and skin irritation, handling requires appropriate safety measures.
