2-Methylpentane, also known as isohexane, is a branched-chain hydrocarbon with the chemical formula C6H14. It is a colorless, volatile liquid used as a solvent in various industrial and laboratory applications. 2-Methylpentane is also employed as a component in gasoline and in the production of synthetic rubber. Due to its high flammability and volatility, handling requires strict safety measures to prevent fire hazards and ensure proper ventilation.
