Zinc chloride is a white crystalline solid with the chemical formula ZnCl₂. It is highly soluble in water and has a wide range of applications. In the chemical industry, zinc chloride is used as a catalyst, dehydrating agent, and in the production of other chemicals. It is also employed in textile processing, metallurgical fluxes, and as a soldering flux to clean metal surfaces before joining. Additionally, zinc chloride is used in the preservation of wood, as it provides protection against decay and insect damage. It also finds use in batteries, pharmaceuticals, and as a disinfectant. Its versatility makes it a valuable compound in various industrial processes.
