ZINC CHROMATE Chemical compatibility with O-rings, rubbers, & plastics

Zinc chromate is a yellow-green pigment with the chemical formula ZnCrO₄. It is primarily used as an anti-corrosive agent in industrial coatings and primers for metals, particularly in the aerospace and automotive industries. Zinc chromate forms a protective layer on metal surfaces, preventing oxidation and corrosion. Its high resistance to harsh environmental conditions makes it suitable for use in marine and military applications. However, due to its toxicity and carcinogenicity, the use of zinc chromate has declined, and safer alternatives are being sought. Proper handling and protective measures are essential when working with zinc chromate to minimize health risks.
