ALUMINUM FLUORIDE Chemical compatibility with O-rings, rubbers, & plastics

Aluminum fluoride is a white crystalline solid with the chemical formula AlF3. It is used primarily as a flux in the production of aluminum by electrolysis. Aluminum fluoride lowers the melting point of the electrolyte, improving the efficiency of the aluminum smelting process. It is also used in the manufacture of ceramics and glass. While relatively non-toxic, aluminum fluoride can cause skin and respiratory irritation upon exposure. Proper handling and storage are essential to ensure safety.
