AMMONIUM CARBONATE Chemical compatibility with O-rings, rubbers, & plastics

Ammonium carbonate is a white crystalline compound with the chemical formula (NH4)2CO3. It is used as a leavening agent in baking, a smelling salt, and in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals. Ammonium carbonate decomposes upon heating, releasing ammonia and carbon dioxide. It is relatively non-toxic but can cause skin and respiratory irritation upon exposure. Proper handling and storage are essential to ensure safety.
