Wool fat, also known as lanolin, is a waxy substance secreted by the sebaceous glands of wool-bearing animals, primarily sheep. It is a yellowish, viscous material used extensively in cosmetics and skincare products for its moisturizing and emollient properties. Lanolin is an effective barrier cream, protecting the skin from harsh environmental factors while retaining moisture. It is also used in the pharmaceutical industry as a base for ointments and creams. Additionally, lanolin finds applications in lubricants, rust-preventive coatings, and in the treatment of leather. Its hypoallergenic properties make it suitable for sensitive skin.
